Kirtland Air Force Base ID Card Office Adapts to New Procedures Amid COVID-19
In light of the current global pandemic, the Kirtland Air Force Base ID Card Office has implemented new procedures to ensure the safety of its personnel and visitors while continuing to provide essential services to military members, their families, and other authorized individuals.
The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic earlier this year forced many military installations, including Kirtland Air Force Base, to make significant changes to their operations to prevent the spread of the virus. One area that required immediate attention was the ID Card Office, where individuals go to obtain or renew their military identification cards.
“We knew that we had to adapt quickly to the new reality that COVID-19 presented,” said Major Rebecca Martinez, the officer in charge of the Kirtland Air Force Base ID Card Office. “Our priority was to continue serving our customers while ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone who entered our facility.”
One of the first changes implemented at the ID Card Office was the requirement for individuals to schedule appointments in advance. This move helped to limit the number of people in the office at any given time and allowed for proper social distancing measures to be observed.
“We wanted to avoid overcrowding in the office and reduce the risk of exposure to the virus,” explained Major Martinez. “By having individuals schedule appointments, we were able to better manage the flow of traffic and provide a safer environment for both our customers and our staff.”
Furthermore, the ID Card Office introduced a screening process for all individuals entering the facility. Before being allowed inside, visitors are required to undergo a temperature check and answer a series of health-related questions to ensure they are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
“We take the health and safety of our personnel and visitors very seriously,” stated Major Martinez. “By implementing these additional measures, we are doing our part to prevent the spread of the virus and protect those who come to us for assistance.”
In addition to these changes, the ID Card Office also ramped up its cleaning and disinfecting procedures to maintain a hygienic environment. High-touch surfaces are regularly sanitized, and hand sanitizing stations are provided throughout the office for individuals to use.
“We have increased our cleaning efforts to ensure that our workspace remains clean and safe for everyone,” Major Martinez remarked. “We want our customers to feel confident and comfortable when they visit us, knowing that we are taking all the necessary precautions to protect their health.”
Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, the Kirtland Air Force Base ID Card Office has continued to provide essential services to military members, their families, and other authorized individuals. From issuing new identification cards to renewing expired ones, the office has remained operational throughout the crisis, albeit with some modifications to its procedures.
“We understand the importance of having a valid military identification card, especially during these uncertain times,” Major Martinez emphasized. “That’s why we have worked diligently to ensure that we can still meet the needs of our customers while prioritizing their health and safety.”
