South Carolina Veterans Now Eligible for State ID Card
South Carolina veterans will now have the opportunity to obtain a special state identification card specifically designed for them. Governor Henry McMaster recently signed a bill into law that allows veterans to apply for a Veterans ID Card, which will serve as proof of their military service and provide access to various benefits and discounts.
The Veterans ID Card program is a welcomed initiative by many veterans who have long sought a way to easily prove their service without having to carry around their discharge papers or other official documents. The card will display the veteran’s name, branch of service, dates of service, and a unique identification number.
“We are honored to provide our veterans with this valuable resource that recognizes and honors their service to our country,” Governor McMaster said in a statement. “The Veterans ID Card will make it easier for our veterans to access the benefits they deserve and have earned through their dedication and sacrifice.”
To apply for the Veterans ID Card, veterans must provide a copy of their DD-214 form, which verifies their military service. They will also need to provide a valid form of identification and a recent photograph. The application process is free of charge and can be completed online through the South Carolina Department of Veterans’ Affairs website.
